pfSense is a powerful appliance, but occasionally, it throws us some tricky challenges. In this case, I’ll share an issue that had me scratching my head for a while.
After configure Auto Config Backup utility and created some backups, when you try to list them under Restore section, a red message is displayed: “No backups could be located for this device."
Following this thread (https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/15127) I was able to fix it and have my auto config backup back to life.
Description
In the file /usr/local/www/services_acb.php there is a call on line 233 to "check_dnsavailable" which queries against 8.8.8.8 using a function in /etc/inc/system.inc. Recently a change to Google's DNS servers has broken this function.
Workaround
awk 'NR==233 {$0="if ((!($_REQUEST['\''download'\'']) || $input_errors)) {"} 1' /usr/local/www/services_acb.php > temp && mv temp /usr/local/www/services_acb.php
